Shelties Available For Adoption
The adoption process begins when you submit the ADOPTION APPLICATION form to us. We cannot stress enough how It is important that you answer all the questions. There are no right or wrong answers and no trick questions. Your answers will help us match you up with the right rescue.
It is important, however, for you to understand that each of these dogs comes with its own life experiences. Some come from loving homes, whose owners may have passed away, or perhaps moved and couldn’t take their dog with them. Some dogs are given up for health or other personal reasons. Other dogs were abandoned and are looking for loving homes.
Once SSPSNJ gets a dog, the dog is examined by a veterinarian, spayed/neutered, and brought up to date on all its shots. With all this complete, we do our best to find the right home for the right sheltie.
One of these dogs might be your ‘furever’ friend.
Thank you for considering adopting one of our shelties.
With any dog we have in rescue, we have a process we follow when considering an adoptive home, and the dog’s needs ALWAYS come first. FOSTER HOMES, VOLUNTEERS and PRIOR ADOPTERS get special consideration. We keep applications on file and try to match the Sheltie with the best possible adoptive home. Thank you for understanding!
For Adoption...
Big Rescue welcome to Jubilee!
Foster Care...
Dogs in Foster Care are not available for adoption at this time. They are lovingly
cared for as their medical, behavioral and social needs are evaluated.
THE MISSOURI MILL DOGS
JOURNEY is one of our Missouri Mill dogs. He is a light sable and is about 5 or 6 years old. Journey lived his life in a backyard puppy mill with minimal human interaction. He is in a foster home where he will learn to be a pet and not livestock in a shed behind the house. Journey is very shut down right and will need a lot of time to decompress and realize he will be okay. He does not yet know how to walk on a leash, and is not yet housebroken. Those things will come with time. Journey is not yet ready for adoption.
TRIP is one of our Missouri Mill dogs. He is a 2 or 3 year old sable merle with beautiful blue eyes. He is less shut down than Journey but is fearful of people. He also lived his life in this puppy mill with minimal care and food. He will need to learn how to live in the house as a pet and not as livestock out in the shed behind the house. He is young and once he feels more comfortable he will probably be higher energy. Trip is not yet ready for adoption.
Big Rescue welcome to Jameson!
Big Rescue Welcome to JAMESON! Jameson is a 3 year old boy and his family gave him up as he was barking and herding the kids in the home. His owner realized he needed a home where he would have a fenced yard to burn off some of that energy. No worries Jameson you will be okay and we love you already!
We just got this dog into rescue. We need to get to know him. He will NOT be available for adoption until he is seen by our vet and caught up on vaccinations, and he needs to settle in. Then once we evaluate him we will be able to determine what type of home would suit him best.
When this dog is ready for adoption, we will start looking at applications. Send in an application to be considered. We adopt our dogs to homes in and NEAR NEW JERSEY. Jameson will need a securely fenced yard. And he will need a home with prior herding dog experience and no small children. Once we get to know him, we will post additional requirements.
