Forever Fosters
These dogs have a very special
place in our hearts!
Our Forever Fosters
SSPSNJ believes that there is a home for every dog we rescue and we are willing to wait to find it. However, every now and then certain dogs have ongoing medical expenses that make adoption more difficult. These dogs have a very special place in our hearts and still deserve a chance at happiness. We do not want the fear of vet bills to get in their way so we have established our “Forever Foster” program which pays for their ongoing medical care.
If you would like to make a donation to help with the “Forever Foster” program or a specific “Forever Foster” dog you can make your donations through PayPal on our donation page or mail a check to us. Please indicate in PayPal or on your check that you would like your donation to go toward one of our “Forever Fosters” ongoing care.
You may mail donations to:
Shetland Sheepdog Placement Services NJ
107 Broad Street Suite 694
Hainesport, NJ 08036
Make checks payable to: Shetland Sheepdog Placement Services NJ or SSPSNJ
As always, a sincere thank you for making a donation to SSPSNJ to help us rescue Shelties in need.
Every little bit helps us care for our Shelties.

Shelly
Merrill
Merrill is one of our Forever Fosters. Merrill is one of the three shelties who came into our rescue from a shelter in Newark after their owner was unable to care for them anymore.
Merrill is 13 years old and has medical issues due to his age. He is in a forever foster home where he is loved and well cared for. We make sure his medical needs are met so he can enjoy his later years in comfort. He has two other dogs to keep him company and keep him active and engaged.
We will gladly accept donations for Merrill to help with his ongoing medical needs. Please indicate that you are donating for “Merrill”.

Shelly

Shelly
Shelly is a 12 year old ‘plus’ size girl. Sadly Shelly lost her home because her dad is in a nursing home now.
Shelly is now one of our forever fosters due to her age and medical needs. She has arthritis and has been diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease, both of which are being treated. Her medical treatments will continue so she is comfortable for her remaining years. She is in a forever foster home where she will be loved and cared for.
We will gladly accept donations for Shelly to help with her ongoing medical needs. She will need medication for the Cushing’s Disease for the rest of her life. Please indicate that you are donating for “Shelly”.
Penny
PENNY! Penny is a 13 yr old female sheltie/American Eskimo mix. Penny is not a fan of kids and her family spent a lot of time trying to work things out. Her family loves her very much but decided it would be in Penny’s best interest to find a new home where she would have more freedom and attention than they could give her.
We have decided to make Penny a Forever Foster due to her age and she has behavior issues that would make it difficult to find a suitable home for her. She is doing well in her current foster home who have learned to work with each other.
We will gladly accept donations for Penny to help with any medical needs she may have along with her regular care. Please indicate that you are donating for “Penny”.

Keira
KEIRA is a 14 year old sheltie who had been placed in several adoptive homes but due to unfortunate circumstances she was returned to our care. After her last adoption, she came back a changed dog. She was less trusting, hand shy and developed some negative behaviors. She also had several broken teeth, and needed another dental with 5 teeth removed. She also had put on 20lbs in her adoptive home, and was not getting her thyroid medication so was not feeling well.
At this point, it was determined she was no longer adoptable. She would stay with her foster mom, who would work with her to help with the behaviors. In her foster home, she got down to a much healthier 27.5 lbs. Her energy level has gone up, and she again plays with her doggie friends. She is feeling much better, and is happier. Her behavior has improved, but after a year the behaviors are still there. But Keira will remain as a forever foster in rescue for the remainder of her life.
We will gladly accept donations for Keira to help with any medical needs she may have along with her regular care. Please indicate that you are donating for “Keira”.
